Will Smith’s Ex-Wife Sheree Zampino Says She Often ‘Bumped Heads’ With Him And Jada Pinkett-Smith Over Co-Parenting

Will Smith’s ex-wife Sheree Zampino, whom he was married to from 1992 to 1995, has revealed that co-parenting their son, Trey Smith, 29, alongside Jada Pinkett-Smith wasn’t all that easy in the beginning. The 54-year-old made the comment during her recent appearance on the “Behind the Velvet Rope” podcast, adding that she didn’t always find it “easy” or “pretty” trying to find a place in the family after Will had settled down with the “Madagascar” actress.

Following Sheree’s divorce from Will, it was two years later when he would go on to marry Jada and welcome two children, Willow and Jaden. Speaking of finding her feet in the blended family, the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star said it wasn’t uncommon to disagree with Jada and Will on the best approach to co-exist while raising Trey.

“You got three different dynamics, three different personalities, and different belief systems, different way of doing things,” Sheree shared. “And there were times we have bumped heads and it hasn’t been pretty. But listen, we get back on that horse and we press on. We do what we have to do because again, at the end of the day, it’s about the kids.”

While she struggled to come to terms with Jada now being an active parent figure in Trey’s life, she ultimately came to the understanding that considering the “Red Table Talk” was now tied to Will and started welcoming children with him, there ultimately was no reason not to try and make things work, especially since Trey bonded with his siblings very quickly.

“Then Jaden comes along, then Willow. It is about these babies. So how do we do this where we honor them and we put them first and we don’t deprive them of any good thing,” Zampino recalled, explaining that “the good thing” is in reference to the close bond Trey shares with his siblings and three parental figures.

“We were just able to go there, and I’m grateful for it.”

“But I’m grateful that we were kind of all on the same frequency and the same page to really want to do that, which is probably why we are called to one another in this space.”

Sheree may have frequently bumped heads with Jada over how they were going to parent Trey — particularly since Jada had started having kids of her own with Will — which brought on the feeling of uncertainty and what this would mean for Sheree’s son.

But she later realized that all three of the adults in the family only wanted what was best for the children without putting their personal feelings in the mix of things – and though it took time to get to that point, Sheree and Jada share a good-standing bond today.
