Multiple schools across the United States are on high alert after an anonymous TikTok user revealed multiple school shootings will take place on Friday.

After receiving news about the threat, school officials across the country have increased security measures and sent letters to parents about the apparent social media threat. According to the New York Post, police have claimed the threat is false but parents were told to talk to their parents about the situation.

The Baltimore County Public Schools said in a statement that the threat originated in Arizona and authorities claim the source is not credible. “: BCPS has been made aware of an anonymous threat posted on TikTok targeting all schools in the United States. The post alleges that there are planned school shootings that will take place on Friday, December 17. Law enforcement agencies have investigated this threat and determined that it originated in Arizona and is not credible,” the tweet reads.

School officials also encouraged students and parents to contact them about any threat they might have heard in person on social media.
