During a recent episode of ‘Drink Champs,’ host N.O.R.E. asked the “THat Part” rapper if Los Angeles is one of the most dangerous cities for rappers. N.O.R.E. said, “Other than TDE, right? It’s been rumored that LA is probably one of the most dangerous places for rappers. Do you believe that’s true?”
ScHoolboy Q, who is a native of South Los Angeles, admitted it is, saying, “Umm, yeah.” He then continued to explain that rappers coming from out of town are essentially “setting themselves” up to be robbed by “checking in.” He added that by telling someone you don’t really know that you’re in town and where you will be staying is not a good idea.
ScHoolboy Q added, “I mean everybody be checking in. That’s your favorite thing to do, check in with somebody that’s gon’ rob your stupid a**. You think the guy that you don’t know in motherf***ing California got your back? The guy that got beef with other hoods and all this? You checking in with that dude? Bro, just go to the hotel, get you something to eat, go back to the hotel, go have some fun where sh*t is fun. Why do you want to go over there?”
The “Studio” rapper even admitted that he has received calls from rappers trying to “check in” with him. However, he issued a disclaimer and said, “Don’t call me!” He continued, “Motherf***ers be having the nerve to call me sometimes. Like, what are you talking about, bro? I’m playing video games. My daughter got a soccer game tomorrow. Bro, grow the f**k up. Like, I’m not meeting you at… I’m not about to drive over here to Beverly Hills and drop you off an ounce of weed.”

ScHoolboy Q said he likes to stay low-key and tries to persuade those who come in from out of town to do the same. However, he said he understands that by “checking in” you can keep relationships, but you just have to be smart about it. He said, “I get it. Stay connected and all this sh*t, but sometimes you don’t need to be connected. Like, you’re not from over here, bro. I’m going to Brooklyn to see what’s going on in the dangerous parts of Brooklyn. What the f**k? Like, why am I over there in the dangerous parts of Brooklyn? Like, shout out to y’all! I want the dangerous parts of Brooklyn to come to the show or something, and we meet up over here where it’s neutral, and we cool, and we all straight.”
The rapper added, “I’m here for peace. I don’t know why everybody trying to prove something. I just feel like people just trying to prove stuff and then they put their self in these silly a** situations and it’s just like, I don’t get it. Like, why don’t you just go home? Go back to the room. You got your food? Alright, cuz. You know we can smoke weed in the f***ing room and sh*t? Or, come to my house. Let’s go to the studio. Let’s do some cool sh*t.”
