#Socialites, do you agree? Savannah James thinks it’s “okay” for a woman to buy her wedding dress before getting proposed to by her partner.
In an exclusive clip shared with Complex via Savannah James’ new podcast, ‘Everybody’s Crazy,’ she and her co-host April McDaniel speak with a woman who calls into their show’s hotline. While girl-talking with her co-host on their new podcast that debuted on Tuesday (April 30), Savannah James allows listeners to call in on their 888-601-CRZY (2799) hotline.
In the exclusive clip from the show shared with Complex, a woman from Atlanta, Georgia calls in and tells the women her name is Taylor. She proceeds to ask the hosts, “Is it crazy that I purchased my wedding dress before I got proposed to?” Savannah James —who is married to and shares three children with her childhood sweetheart, NBA star LeBron James — laughs at the question.

Meanwhile, James’ co-host, April McDaniel replies to the caller’s question and admits, “A little bit.” The woman who called in continues to explain that she is engaged now so she feels “it’s okay” about her actions, but while reflecting on what she did, she can also admit that her premature decision was “a little crazy.”
McDaniel goes on to add, “It was a little crazy, but it’s not too crazy. I feel like… I also believe in manifesting, so it’s a teetering line there. There is that manifesting piece, but then there is that piece that’s like, [a] little cuckoo. But I’m on the verge.” Adding her own two cents, Savannah James jumps in and says, “And I feel like if you love that [and] you wanted that to be your wedding dress, then it was okay to get it.”

While the brief clip doesn’t show Savannah James speaking too much about her own experience with getting proposed to and her wedding dress shopping details, this conversation and new podcast episode is just a taste of what is next to come with her new venture that sees her opening up like never before. James, who is extremely private about her personal life, admitted to PEOPLE that she is “scared as hell” about her new show, but the feedback to it has been “freeing” for her.
She said, “I think that for me, it’s freeing because it allows me to show a side of my personality. We are both very private, and I’ve been very private and kind of played the background this far in my husband’s career. But I am excited to venture off into new things, we’re going into new phases of our lives. And as nerve-racking and anxiety-ridden as it is to do something new, I’m really excited.”
James added, “I started my family pretty young and I was just in a space of trying to navigate who I was at the time or who I am. And I feel like I’ve grown so much from playing the background, taking care of the kids, and supporting my husband. Now I’m just kind of like, my kids are growing, basically out of the house. My daughter is now there with me and she’s watching me and she’s already expressed to me, ‘Mom, I want to be like you.'”
