A Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre survivor, who attends Michigan State University, was forced to relive her trauma in a second mass shooting on the MSU campus; in which three students were killed and five others were critically wounded on Monday night (February 13).
Sandy Hook Survivor, Who Attends Michigan State University, Relives Trauma In 2nd Mass Shooting
It’s also revealed that survivors of the Oxford High School shooting, just 14 months ago, were also MSU students that were forced to endure the same trauma they are still recovering from.
The Sandy Hook alum has identified herself as 21-years-old Jackie Matthews. She took to her TikTok to upload an emotional video on Tuesday (February 14), in which she revealed that she had survived her second mass shooting at a school.
Matthews is a senior at MSU and recalled the December 14, 2012 shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, in which a gunman, Adam Lanza, killed 20 students and six teachers and staff.
In her emotional TikTok video, the Sandy Hook massacre survivor revealed that after the 2012 tragedy, she suffered a PTSD fracture in her lower back, which she received after hunching over hiding from the shooter in her classroom all those years ago.
Matthews says that her PTSD fracture flares up whenever she is in a stressful situation, and it again happened just yesterday when a shooter, identified as 43-year-old Anthony McRae, began firing shots on the campus, killing three and critically injuring five other people.
McRae was eventually found dead, with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head following an hours-long manhunt.
In her TikTok, Matthews calls out the government and justice system for allowing her, and other students who have been through mass shootings, to continue to relive and go through more tragedies caused by gun violence.
The Sandy Hook massacre survivor said, “The fact that this is the second mass shooting that I have now lived through is incomprehensible. My heart goes out to all the families and the friends of the Michigan State shooting. But we can no longer just provide love and prayers. It needs to be legislation, it needs to be action. It’s not okay. We can no longer allow this to happen. We can no longer be complacent.”
As mentioned, other MSU students were survivors of the 14-month-old Oxford High School shooting. One alum, Emma Riddle, spoke out on Twitter about the second mass shooting she has had to endure.
Riddle said, “14 months ago, I had to evacuate from Oxford High School when a fifteen year old opened fire and killed four of my classmates and injured seven more. Tonight, I am sitting under my desk at Michigan State University, once again texting everyone ‘I love you.’ When will this end?”
