Rep. Maxine Waters Reveals Sister Is Dying From Coronavirus

On Thursday (Apr 23), California Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters revealed that her sister is dying from coronavirus in a hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

While speaking on the House floor, ahead of a vote on a COVID-19 response package worth more than $480 billion, Waters lowered her face mask and dedicated the legislation to her sister, stating, “I’m going to take a moment to dedicate this legislation to my dear sister who is dying in a hospital in St. Louis, Missouri right now, infected by the coronavirus.”

Waters, who’s also the chair of the House Financial Services Committee made her reveal just hours from Senator Elizabeth Warren‘s own announcement that her brother died of the novel virus earlier this week.

During her time on the House floor, Waters had also spoke in support of the already-passed Paycheck Protection Program and the pending Health Care Enhancement Act, that’s expected to pass a House vote today, and that is supported by President Donald Trump, who mentioned he’d sign off as soon as the bill reached the Oval Office.
