Camden County prosecutors reported Leigh Ann Bauman,43, wanted her mother-in-law’s death to look like an accident and was given several chances to change her mind after being questioned by a witness who turned informant. Court documents also revealed that she approached the witness because she tried to pick up her children from their grandmother’s house but they refused to go with her. Bauman later sent a text to them saying that their grandmother was going to die. The children told their father about the text, and when confronted about the message, Bauman claimed she meant their grandmother was going to die eventually due to her age. The couple filed for divorce in 2018.

After speaking with the informant about the offer, Bauman went to the bank on Wednesday to retrieve the money but was arrested a day later by state troopers. She tried to place blame on the informant and claimed they were a scammer who tried to take money from her.
