Racist Note on Restaurant Receipt Leads to Real Estate Agent’s Termination
A real estate agent in Columbus, Ohio, has been fired from Century 21 after she allegedly left a racist note on a restaurant receipt instead of tipping a waiter. The shocking incident unfolded at Cazuelas Mexican Restaurant & Cantina, where Stephanie Lovins paid an $87.84 bill but refused to leave a tip. Instead, she wrote: “Zero, you suck. I hope Trump deports you!!”

A restaurant employee posted a photo of the receipt on Facebook, which quickly went viral, sparking outrage. Social media users identified Lovins as a realtor for Century 21, where she had been employed for 27 years. Facing widespread backlash, Lovins attempted to deny the accusations, the New York Post reported.
She posted on a local Facebook group, claiming her credit card had been stolen and someone else had used it to leave the offensive message. Despite her claims, the restaurant manager reviewed security footage and confirmed that Lovins paid the bill and wrote the note herself. This revelation further fueled public outrage, leading to calls for Century 21 to take action.
Century 21 Fires Lovins, Condemns Racist Behavior
After confirming Lovins’ identity, Century 21 swiftly terminated her employment. The real estate company issued a strongly worded statement clarifying that it does not tolerate hate within its organization. “Hate has no place within the Century 21 brand,” the company stated. “After investigating the situation and connecting with the respective broker, as all companies affiliated with the Century 21 brand are independently owned and operated, we can confirm that this agent is no longer affiliated with the brand.”
The restaurant also posted on social media, “Recently, one of our team members faced an unacceptable situation, and we stand firmly against any form of hate or discrimination.” The statement also confirmed that the waiter who issued the message was a U.S. citizen who had worked two jobs.
“It was a normal Sunday; things got a little busy, so the wait could have been a little longer than usual, but we aren’t really sure what made her write that”.
The community also launched a GoFundMe to give Ricardo the tip he deserved after the entire ordeal which was raised to $8,800.
