On January 21, around 3:30 a.m., authorities responded to a call — made by a third party who’d received a call from their daughter about hearing several gunshots and seeing a body laying the street at the intersection of Deep Shoals Circle and Corners Xing. On arrival, Rooks had a “faint pulse,” but by time EMS arrived, he was pronounced dead at the scene with gunshot wounds to the face and leg, bleeding severely. Police retrieved at least eight shell casing on the roadway near where Rooks’ body was lying.
Prior to this incident, the “Watch Me (Whip / Nae Nae)” rapper had been arrested in Los Angeles — after entering a random home wielding a hatchet as he looked for his girlfriend. A day prior to that, he was arrested following a domestic dispute and was taken into custody by the Santa Ana Police Department and transported to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department before being released.
