Among the other crimes prosecutors are looking to admit evidence is an alleged bribe paid to of a state worker in the 1990s to make a fake I.D for a 15-year-old girl that said she was 18. The girl, identified in court paperwork as “Jane Doe 1,” which is singer Aaliyah according to Oxygen.
The I.D card was used to fraudulently obtain a marriage license which Kelly and the then-15-year-old singer were married in 1994. (The marriage was later annulled.)
Being that the couple was technically married the Judge, Donnelly asked Kelly’s lawyer, “Are you going to deny that there was sexual contact with Jane Doe 1? ” and Kelly’s lawyer answer was “no.”

The federal prosecutor did have a question as well. He asked, “are they not going to dispute that at the time Jane Doe 1 was 13 to 15 years old?” and Farinella stated, they were going to dispute something but didn’t want to reveal it at that time.
The government plans to argue that the marriage was an attempt by Kelly to avoid criminal charges after Aaliyah became pregnant.
The plans on moving forward with allowing new evidence to be presented before the trial starts which is set for August 18.
