Juniper Downs, head of community policy and partnerships, confirmed the policy update in a statement. According to the Associated Press, the new policy takes effect on April 30. Under the new policy, hosts can still use doorbell cameras and noise level monitors as long as the devices are visible and their location is disclosed to guests. Additionally, indoor cameras are not allowed in bathrooms and bedrooms.
“Our goal was to create new, clear rules that provide our community with greater clarity about what to expect on Airbnb. These changes were made in consultation with our guests, Hosts, and privacy experts, and we’ll continue to seek feedback to help ensure our policies work for our global community,” the statement reads.

The update is anticipated to affect a limited number of Airbnb listings, given that most do not feature security cameras. In addition to prohibiting indoor cameras, the updated policy will introduce stricter regulations on deploying outdoor security cameras and various devices.
