Prince William And Princess Kate Reportedly Won’t Trust Meghan And Harry Until They ‘Acknowledge The Pain’ Their Oprah Winfrey Interview Caused

While Prince William and Princess Kate put up a united front with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry following Queen Elizabeth II’s death earlier this month, sources say the two couples are still at odds because the future King and his wife can’t find it in themselves to trust the U.S.-based royals anymore. Harry and Meghan joined William and Kate for a walkabout in Windsor as they thanked locals for their well wishes and beautiful tributes for Her Majesty, who died on September 8.

But fans shouldn’t get carried away into thinking that this meant all was well between them, because, according to The Telegraph, William and Kate are still livid over Harry and Meghan’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey last year. On top of that, the pair, who have already flown back to LA, are believed to have signed a reported $100 million deal to produce original content for Netflix –including an upcoming “tell-all documentary” — followed by an $18 million three-year deal with Spotify to front their own podcast, Archetypes.

Sources say William and Kate are more concerned about the allegations made against the royal family in the Winfrey interview, where it was claimed someone in the firm had questioned the darkness of Meghan and Harry’s son, Archie, prior to his birth. Meghan also claimed Kate brought her to tears following a dispute concerning specific bridesmaid detail for the “Suits” actress’ wedding in 2018. The U.K.-based royals reportedly want Meghan and Harry to acknowledge their wrongdoings before some sort of trust can be built again.

“[William and Catherine] feel that [the Oprah interview] crossed a line and that someone should acknowledge the motives behind it and the pain it caused,” an insider explained. “They feel they’ve had to be steely to send a message that you cannot just say this hugely upsetting stuff without there being consequences.”

“It’s really hard to spend time with someone, or even to speak openly, when you know they’re writing a book about you and giving interviews. The trust is gone right now.”

As the source already mentioned, Harry is said to have penned a memoir which was initially expected to be released by the year’s end. But following the Queen’s death, there’s a chance that the tell-all will be pushed back amid concerns that Harry may be shedding light on private family matters that neither William or Kate would want the public to know about.

William, in particular, has taken issue with his brother’s ways in recent years, which all started when he decided to quit working as a royal senior in order to leave the UK and permanently move to Los Angeles, where he and Meghan have started a new life for themselves. And while all seemed well as the couples united for the sake of the Queen’s funeral, things are far from friendly between them, and only time will tell if the relationship can be mended.
