Gerald Johnson revealed in the video clip that he suffered a heart attack and died briefly in 2016. He expected to end up in heaven for doing good deeds in his life but instead found himself in hell, where he saw a man walking on all fours like a dog while being burned with chains around his neck. In addition, there was a section of Hell where singing demons played music as punishment. Among the songs were “Umbrella” by Rihanna and “Don’t Worry Be Happy” by Bobby McFerrin.

“I thought I was going upward because I thought that I had done so much good in this lifetime and helped so many people, and made so many decisions that were Godly decisions. But as opposed to me going up, I went down. I went literally into the center of the earth. That’s where hell is.”

He noted that the demons were singing the songs terribly as torture and said, “every word of every song was made to torture you for the fact that you didn’t worship God through music while you were on Earth.”

Johnson said he wouldn’t wish the experience on his worse enemy as he saw things people couldn’t handle.”The things that I saw were indescribable, and it makes me emotional every time I talk about it,” Johnson exclaimed. The experience for Johnson ended when he was revived and realized he was back on Earth.  After the video went viral on TikTok and Twitter, commentators created memes in reference to Johnson’s situation and asked what they would do if heard Rihanna’s songs in hell. One user wrote, So demons are in hell singing “Umbrella”?  That’s how you know that song was a HIT. Number one across the world and underworld.”

Another said, This preacher saying he died and went to hell and they were singing Umbrella by Rihanna needs jail time… IMMEDIATELY”. Johnson turned off his comments on TikTok so there wasn’t much commentary on his video.
