A Florida father is speaking out after a devastating tragedy claimed the lives of his wife and one of his twin daughters. Kameron Glasgow was just steps away when he witnessed his family being fatally struck by lightning in a relative’s driveway.
The heartbreaking incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on August 23, just as the family arrived at a home in Margate. While Kenya Glasgow, 31, and her 2-year-old daughter, Kennedi Rose, were struck, Kameron explained that their other twin was still safely inside the car. Kameron himself was also hit by the aftershock of the bolt.
“I got the actual aftershock from the ground. By the grace of God, I’m still here as well,” he said through tears, describing the experience as “the worst feeling in the world.”
Kenya and Kennedi were rushed to separate hospitals, where they were both tragically pronounced dead.
In a moving tribute on Facebook, Kameron wrote, “I just lost my best friend. My daughter just lost her best friend. I’m hurt we are hurt but if you gotten the chance to feel that beautiful light my wife and daughter brought into your life cherish it. It’s there for a reason.”
Reflecting on his surviving daughter, Kameron shared the pain of knowing she will grow up without her twin. “For her to lose her twin sister, words can’t describe that feeling cause I know she can’t even fathom it right now, that she lost her best friend,” he said.
A GoFundMe has been established to support the family during this unimaginably difficult time, and it had already raised nearly $22,000 by August 25.
