Post Malone recently announced that he and his girlfriend are expecting a child together. And now, the White Iverson chart-topper has revealed his excitement for fatherhood, telling People that he’s “pumped beyond belief” of the forthcoming arrival of his firstborn. While this may come as a surprise to some, Post, 26, claims that becoming a dad had always been “a dream” of his, as he recalled one of his favorite toys growing up as a child.

“As a kid, I was like 4 or 5, and I had this little baby I would carry around everywhere,” the Grammy winner gushed. “It was a baby doll. And I thought that was the coolest thing. I would take him around everywhere. And I don’t know how long that lasted. But my mom still has it.” Of course, there’s a stark contrast between looking after a baby doll and raising a baby — but Post, whose real name is Austin Richard Post, says he’s excited to start the next chapter of his life, having relocated from LA to Salt Lake City three years ago for a more private life.

He concluded by jokingly telling the publication he will most likely be “a hot dad” once his baby has arrived, though it’s still unclear when he and his girlfriend are expected to welcome their little tot. Post first shared the joyful news with TMZ in May, expressing how he had reached a point in his life where he felt the happiest he’s ever been. He later went on to tell Jimmy Fallon that he hopes to embody nothing but “kindness” as a father, and to nurture and love his baby unconditionally.

Back in January, the Rockstar hitmaker opened up about his decision to leave Los Angeles and move to Salt Lake City, which Post said was prompted due to his poor mental health while out in sunny California. Since relocating, he has been able to step away from the madness that came with living in LA, where he said everybody always wanted something from him, to now only be surrounded by his closest family and friends. The switch-up has ultimately allowed him to live a very peaceful life while still working on his music career.

“People wanted me to stay in LA — that’s where the work gets done — but I was fed up. There’s always something to do, and someone always wants something from ya — and I didn’t want to go crazy,” he told Billboard. “The move to Utah has made things a lot better for my mental health. It’s been very, very good,” he continued. “It’s something I had to do because LA was kicking my ass. So it is tough, but it is worth it.”

The identity of Post’s girlfriend remains unknown.
