#Socialites, get a load of this: Magisterial District Judge Sonya McKnight, 57, faces serious charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault after trying to take out her ex! The accusations stem from an alleged shooting of her ex-boyfriend, Michael McCoy, in his Harrisburg home on February 10. The details of the case, as revealed in an arrest affidavit reviewed by the Associated Press, paint a disturbing picture of betrayal and deceit.

According to reports, McCoy had attempted to end his relationship with McKnight, prompting the violent confrontation that led to the shooting. McKnight is said to have shot McCoy in the head while he slept, and then attempted to mislead him into believing that he had inflicted the gunshot wound upon himself. Susquehanna Township Police said McKnight called 911 to report that her boyfriend could not see and requested an ambulance come to the home. Strangely enough, McKnight told the dispatcher that she did not know what happened because she was sleeping and woke up to him screaming, per the affidavit states.

However, further investigations by the Susquehanna Township Police revealed a different narrative. McCoy’s account of the events, coupled with physical evidence such as gunshot residue on McKnight’s hands and the registration of the firearm to her name, painted a damning picture against the judge. According to the Associated Press McCoy, 54, suffered a single gunshot wound that entered near his right temple and luckily exited near the left temple. Authorities said McCoy is now blind in his right eye, The Associated Press reported.

McKnight’s alleged attempts to deceive McCoy and authorities about the circumstances of the shooting only added to the gravity of the situation. Despite her efforts to shift blame and obscure the truth, law enforcement officials were able to uncover the disturbing reality behind the violent act.

As wild as this is, this is not the first time McKnight has been embroiled in a shooting incident. In a separate case in 2019 involving her estranged husband, McKnight was cleared of any wrongdoing under claims of self-defense. However, the current allegations against her paint a much darker picture, raising serious concerns about her conduct and character.

As McKnight remains in custody on a substantial bail amount, the legal system grapples with the implications of a sitting judge facing such serious criminal charges.

Through a thorough investigation and legal proceedings will hopefully shed light on the truth behind this troubling incident. For now, the Pennsylvania legal community and the public at large await further developments in a case that has sent shockwaves through the state’s judiciary.
