Over 811 Coronavirus Deaths Reported In One Day In US, Total Nears 5K

On Tuesday (Mar 31), CNN Health reported that there were at least 811 new coronavirus deaths in the US in one day. The overall total now nears 5,000, beating that in China with 3,312.

The publication states that the single day number is the highest it’s been since the pandemic began, with a total death toll of 4,529. Additionally, the nation leads the world in most confirmed cases, with 205, 514.

In total, the disease has killed more than 45,300 people and infected more than 905,200, per data viewed at the time of writing this article via Johns Hopkins University. Total recoveries near 190, 800.

As of April 1, the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, claimed the virus presented itself as the world’s “worst crisis” since World War II.

He adds that the scale of the crisis was due to “a disease that represents a threat to everybody in the world and… an economic impact that will bring a recession that probably has no parallel in the recent past.”

In addition, he says, “The combination of the two facts and the risk that it contributes to enhanced instability, enhanced unrest, and enhanced conflict are things that make us believe that this is the most challenging crisis we have faced since the Second World War.”
