A 53-year-old French woman thought she was the luckiest woman alive after truly believing she was in a committed relationship with Hollywood actor Brad Pitt. However, she later learned her fairy-tale relationship turned out to be a sham, leading to heartbreak and empty pockets.
According to Newsweek citing French broadcast network BFM TV, the woman, who goes by the name Anne, received a message on Facebook from the scammer in 2023. The scammer first posed as Pitt’s mother. Later, she received a text from someone claiming to be Mr. Pitt himself! That’s when things started to get real messy… Not only was Miss Anne reportedly married to a millionaire at the time of the scam, but the scammer also asked Anne to marry him, leading her to divorce her millionaire husband, according to BFM TV. But wait it gets worse…
While managing to do that, the scammer was able to convince the woman to send $9,000… so he could send her gifts through customs. Adding to the pain, the scammer reportedly ended up raking in hundreds of thousands of dollars claiming it was to help with cancer treatment. He was able to convince the woman by sending AI-generated images and videos of Brad Pitt, 61, on a hospital bed. It worked, and the woman used nearly all the money she received from her divorce settlement.

Now, many are probably wondering why he couldn’t just use his own money and what excuse he come up with?
Well, according to the outlet, the scammer told the woman he could not use his own money due to his ongoing divorce proceedings with actress Angelina Jolie.
When did Anne realize she was being scammed?
Although Pitt and Jolie finally settled their divorce in December 2024, it wasn’t until Anne saw a picture of Pitt not confined to a bed or wheelchair but out with his current girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, that she began to put the pieces together.
Newsweek notes that the woman has since filed a complaint and is currently undergoing treatment for severe depression at a clinic.
