Omarion Says Bow Wow Fired Jermaine Dupri On Day One Of ‘Face Off’

While making a few press stops ahead of this year’s Millennium Tour, Bow Wow and Omarion reveal why Bow’s mentor and longtime collaborator Jermaine Dupri was left off 2007’s Face Off.

Dupri, a legendary super producer, was set to lend his talents on the duo’s joint project, but O, recalling the initial setup, says “I’m thinking to myself, ‘We’re going to have Jermaine do this half and then we’re going to work with these other two producers. He then adds, “The first day in Atlanta, Bow fires Jermaine.”

Intervening, citing creative differences, Bow reasons, “We didn’t even get a chance to record over a Jermaine Dupri track. Day one, we go into the studio and me, O, and Jermaine are just talking. I’m like, ‘I’m just not really feeling what the f*ck he’s doing and the records that he wants to do.’”

Challenging the duo, Bow says Jermaine retorted, “I gave y’all a No. 1 [hit on the Hot Rap Songs chart]. Y’all go ahead and make me proud and do it without me,’”

Bow added, “And we did it, and we end up having a f*cking successful album. It still sold like 755,000 copies and we dropped ‘Girlfriend’ and we was able to put out two singles.”

O also shares that during their recording time, JD was playing Madden. He explains, “It could feel like he was wasting your time. I don’t know if we was just in a different energy, but I know he was playing that damn video game and n*ggas was supposed to be working.”
