It’s been six months since Migos member Takeoff was tragically killed outside of a downtown Houston bowling alley on Nov. 1. Although his killer has been arrested and charged, the death of the rap star is still hard to deal with for his fans especially for fellow rapper Offset.
In a cover story for Variety, Offset opens up about how difficult it’s been trying to process losing a family member that was extremely close to him. He told the mag, “It’s hard for me to talk about s–t right now,” he said. “I’ve never talked about this stuff. Seriously. Talking about Take is hard, man. Talking about all this s–t is hard. That’s why I don’t, to be honest. That s–t hurts.”
Trying his best to get through the conversation, Offset admitted how painful it is to really talk deep about it. “Like, it’s gonna put me in a mood, and I don’t want to get in that mood. Some things I don’t never tell nobody. He’s not here. That s–t feels fake, bro. I get through my day thinking it’s fake. And I don’t say nothing to nobody about it.”
While it’s an extremely difficult topic for Offset, he has found a big way to pay tribute to his fallen comrade. In his spread for Variety, he gave fans an even better look at his incredible tattoo portrait of Takeoff, something that he’s truly proud of.
“You gotta see this!” he shouted while speaking with the magazine. “It’s my favorite picture of him,” Offset says while lifting up his hoodie to display a giant. “I like it because he had his glasses off.”

Further into the cover story, Offset talked about his forthcoming album, which is the follow-up to his 2019 debut Father of Four. The mag notes that the project will feature Travis Scott, Future, Chloe Bailey, Latto, and TakeOff. Offset’s wife, Cardi B, will also be on the album which is expected to drop this summer.
Speaking of his wife, Offset gave credit to her for some of the positive things in his life and also for always having his back. The 31-year-old revealed that has since “put down lean.” He went on to say, “I was drinking my whole career. It opened my mind up, but I never thought it helped me create. I feel like getting past that, cleaning up, and putting that message out.”
While shouting out his support system and
“My bestie,” Offset continued saying that Cardi “always got my back, right or wrong. We both are on the same mission to make each other better. Social is her strong point, so I listen to her social advice. And me, it’s the music, but I play behind the scenes; it’s my wife so I want to make sure she win[s].”
He added, “We are a great team. We’re a powerhouse at this point — icon status. We believe in God. We believe in family. We’re always going to keep winning.”
