Obama Issues Cease-And-Desist To GOP Super PAC Over Biden Ad
Former POTUS Barack Obama and his lawyers issued a cease-and-desist to the GOP Super PAC, for “despicable” TV ads using his voice to criticize his former VP Joe Biden, and suppress Black voter turnout in South Carolina.
Obama’s communications director Katie Hill stated, “This despicable ad is straight out of the Republican disinformation playbook, and it’s clearly designed to suppress turnout among minority voters in South Carolina by taking President Obama’s voice out of context and twisting his words to mislead viewers.”

Her statement continued, “In the interest of truth in advertising, we are calling on TV stations to take this ad down and stop playing into the hands of bad actors who seek to sow division and confusion among the electorate.”
Additionally, the ad, paid for by pro-Trump PAC the Committee to Defend the President, features an audio clip from Obama’s 1995 memoir Dreams From My Father — it’s edited to falsely suggest Obama is criticizing Biden.
