NYC Deli Employee Charged After Allegedly Punching Customer Over Sandwich Complaint

Ali Zubaidi, a 26-year-old NYC deli employee, has been arrested and charged after allegedly punching a customer in the face as a result of them issuing a sandwich complaint.

The incident occurred on Saturday (Dec. 26) at 5 a.m. at a Hamilton Heights deli, which sits in the northern part of Manhattan. The 29-year-old customer, has not been identified, reportedly wasn’t happy with the finished product of their sandwich. Subsequently, the customer and employee began to argue over the food, which continued from inside the deli to the street, where Zubaidi, of the Bronx, allegedly punched the customer in the face, knocking them to the ground.

Police say the victim, a man who is alleged to have been drunk during the incident, cut his hands and neck as a result of the knockout and subsequent fall to the ground. Zubaidi, who, reportedly, has only worked at the N & H Deli for less than a month, was charged with assault. He’s since been released and is expected to be arraigned at the Manhattan Criminal Court soon.
