Look, we done seen North West on stages, in music videos, and living her best life since before she could walk, but her latest career move got everybody doing a double take. The 13-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Ye sat down with Dazed for their fall 2026 cover story, and when asked what she’d be doing if music wasn’t the plan, she came with a very interesting and somewhat normal answer.

Asked whether hooping was still on the table, remember she used to say she wanted to be a baller, North shut that down quick. Then she dropped the real tea: she’s trying to clock in at Starbucks….She said she still wants to work and specifically wants to land a job at Starbucks next year. “I wanna work at, like, Starbucks next year. I think I can next year ’cause I’m gonna be 14, so … I think I can. I want to have a regular job, I guess.”
And she wasn’t just talking out the side of her neck either, she explained her reasoning was simple, saying she just wants to have a regular job. In a household worth billions, that’s actually kind of a vibe. Girl could be sitting on a trust fund counting clouds, and instead she’s out here trying to learn the ropes on a espresso machine like the rest of us did at 16.
Now here’s the catch, and y’all already know how this goes, California law says you can work at 14, but Starbucks corporate policy typically wants you 16 minimum. So she might have to wait a couple more years before she’s calling out drink orders and dealing with customers who can’t read a menu board. Add on top of that the fact that she’s literally one of the most photographed teenagers on the planet, and you already know security and paparazzi gon’ turn any shift into a whole situation.
Don’t get it twisted though shes not slowing down on the music. She already dropped her debut EP, N0rth4evr, back in May when she was still 12, and she made it clear the artist life isn’t going nowhere. When asked about the worst advice she’s ever gotten, she said someone once told her to start her career later, and she flat out rejected that, calling music her hobby and what she genuinely wants to do with her life. That’s discipline for a young lady still figuring out algebra homework.
At the end of the day, whether she ends up behind that counter or not, you gotta respect the mindset.
