We’ve heard many celebrities express that they would pack their bags and leave America if Donald Trump were elected as the 47th president. Well, it happened, and while not every celebrity stuck to their word, one actress did.

In an interview with “Marie Claire” for its November cover story, conducted just two days after Trump triumphed in the presidential race, Eva Longoria shared how much of a wake-up call it was for her.

“The shocking part is not that he won,” Longoria said, before explaining, “It’s that a convicted criminal who spews so much hate could hold the highest office.” Longoria, who campaigned for Vice President Kamala Harris and spoke at the Democratic National Convention back in August, went on to reflect on her life before COVID-19, noting that the U.S. “was changing” and that the “vibe was different.” However, she added, “Covid happened, and it pushed it over the edge. Whether it’s the homelessness or the taxes, not that I want to s— on California — it just feels like this chapter in my life is done now.” The 49-year-old actress continued by expressing her privilege in being able to move her family out of what she described as a “dystopian country.”

“I get to escape and go somewhere,” she remarked. Nevertheless, Longoria conveyed her anxiety and concern for “Most Americans [who] aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.”

Longoria isn’t the only star who indicated they would flee if Trump were elected. Cher made a comment on X, going as far as to say she would move to Jupiter.

Other celebrities who have expressed similar sentiments in the past include Whoopi Goldberg, John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, Rob Reiner, Barbara Streisand, Nancy Pelosi, and more.

As previously reported, Donald Trump won over Kamala Harris on November 5th and claimed the results were in his favor: “This was a movement like nobody’s ever seen before, and frankly, this was, I believe, the greatest political movement of all time. There’s never been anything like this in this country and maybe beyond, and now it’s going to reach a new level of importance because we’re going to help our country heal.”
