Several crew members were hurt while on set of Eddie Murphy’s movie “The Pickup” on Saturday.
The Amazon studios film is currently being shot in Georgia and the studio spoke out on Tuesday to confirm that multiple crew members were injured on the set. “Unfortunately, the sequence did not go as planned and several members of the crew were injured as a result,” a studio spokesperson stated.
According to the Associated Press, truck “locked up” and crashed unexpectedly into a car which led to two people being hospitalized and others injured. According to the report some of the crew members were left bruises and broken bones. “The Pickup” features some big stars such as Murphy, Keke Palmer, and Pete Davidson but none of them were on set when the accident occurred. Amazon also added that they are still looking into the situation and seeking more information.
“We are still in the process of gathering facts on what happened and why, but first and foremost our thoughts are with those who are recovering,” the spokesperson said. “The well-being of the entire crew and cast is our first priority, and we will continue to insist on the highest industry standards of safety while filming. All safety precautions were reviewed prior to and monitored during the shoot.”
IATSE, a company who represents the crew members also released a statement about the accident. “IATSE is aware of an accident that took place on the Georgia set of ‘The Pickup’ and have started an inquiry,” the union stated.
An anonymous source also spoke to the news outlet and gave more details about the incident. “It was a completely freak accident,” adding, “It wasn’t even a complicated or dangerous stunt.”
