Mother Violently Arrested After Dispute With NYPD Over Face Mask
The NYPD is facing backlash again after a video has gone viral of the police arresting a 22-year-old mother on the subway over a face mask.
According to reports, Kaleemah Rozier and her child were at the Atlantic Avenue/Barclays Center subway station when police approached her about wearing a face covering. However, in the video, you can clearly see that Rozier and her child both had on face masks, but the police had an issue with their noses not being covered.
She reportedly didn’t comply with the officers and “refused requests to properly wear her face covering over her nose and mouth,” the NYPD claimed.

Rozier told the officers, “Don’t touch me,” and the video shows her slapping one of the officer’s hands away from her. At this point, they slam her to the ground.
The NYPD said the officers acted “appropriately and with respect,” due to her behavior.
The video comes during a time of unrest due to the NYPD’s mistreatment of different racial groups during the Coronavirus.
The mayor of NYC, Bill Deja Monet Blasio shares a video of the incident on Twitter,
“Face coverings are important to protect everybody — they’re not optional. But no one wants to see an interaction turn into this. We’ve made progress with de-escalation. This isn’t it.“
