The cadets were rushed to a local hospital after paramedics responded to a call about six people suffering from cardiac arrest at an AirBnb in Wilton Manors. According to police, the young men, all aged in their 20s, were celebrating Spring Break away from the US Military Academy at West Point in New York. Police also said that four of the victims used laced cocaine and two became sick after performing CPR on their colleagues. Two of the men were listed in critical condition while another received treatment and was released from the hospital.
In a statement, the military school said they were aware of the situation and couldn’t provide further details as the incident was still under investigation.

“The U.S. Military Academy is aware of the situation involving West Point cadets, which occurred Thursday night in Wilton Manors, FL. The incident is currently under investigation and no other details are available at this time,”
Officials also said that the students assumed they snorted pure cocaine and weren’t aware that it was completely laced with fentanyl. Narcan was immediately distributed due to the severity of the situation.
The Wilton Manor Police Department warned other spring breakers about the dangers of fentanyl and mixing them with other drugs or alcohol.
“WMPD wants to warn spring breakers about the dangers of using illicit drugs & to avoid mixing drugs with alcohol or other forms of drugs,” they wrote in a tweet.
