The idea came up after local health agencies were forced to stop handing out free condoms at government buildings, bars, and other establishments following closures, social distancing, and stay-at-home orders.
Lynn Sutfin, a spokeswoman for MDHHS, told MLive: “We feel that it is extremely important during this public health crisis to continue to support our communities in protecting themselves against unintended pregnancy, STIs, and HIV,” Sutfin explained.
With that said, if you’re a Michigan resident in need of a condom and want to avoid having a quarantine baby, you can send email requests to MDHHS-FreeCondoms@Michigan.gov and will receive 10 free condoms as well as 10 packets of lubrication, according to Fox News.
Sutfin explained that the packages will “likely be hand addressed as staff is working from home and shipping these items out.”
It is unclear if other cities or states are plan to make this same move during this pandemic.
