Michelle Obama Hosting National Virtual Prom For High School Seniors
While partnering with MTV, former first lady Michelle Obama will be hosting a national virtual prom for high school seniors missing out on the in-person version of the unforgettable milestone.
Via her nonpartisan organization, When We All Vote, Mrs. Obama and MTV will put on a Prom-athon that will kick off on May 22. The event will feature an all-day, on-air takeover on the network that will include prom-themed throwback movies and short-form original content highlighting the 20 winning schools and students who participated in When We All Vote’s latest voter registration initiative. After the all-day lineup, there will be a 90-minute virtual prom party on MTV’s YouTube channel, hosted by Mrs. Obama, and joined by special guests and performances.

In addition to When We All Vote’s initiative, Obama also started a challenge on social media, called #PromChallenge; which she started to help promote the MTV prom-athon and help boost the spirits of students whose proms and graduation ceremonies have been cancelled due to COVID-19.
