President Trump’s ex-lawyer Michael Cohen will be released from prison on Thursday due to the spread of COVID-19. He is expected to serve the remainder of his sentence at home.

CNN reports Michael Cohen will be released tomorrow after he was expected to serve a three-year sentence in New York. He pleaded guilty to lying to Congress along with tax charges and two campaign finance charges for smuggling hush money to women who reportedly had affairs with President Trump. He is expected to serve the remainder of his sentence on furlough.

The reason for his early release is due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus in prisons, leading officials to release nonviolent offenders early in order to prevent further infections. Cohen was expected to be released earlier this month but it was delayed.
