Meghan Markle’s father says he fabricated a few stories about her and Prince Harry to the media so the couple could be seen in a more positive light.
Fox News reports Thomas Markle,75, appeared in a 90-minute documentary aired by CBS Channel 5 on Wednesday and talked about Meghan’s childhood in Los Angeles, her acting career, and how Prince Harry may have caused a strain in their relationship. Markle stated that he lied about her and Prince Harry one time during an interview with “Good Morning Britain” host Piers Morgan after he didn’t attend the royal wedding due to a medical emergency.

“I said [that] they called me back and they were really concerned about me and I said, ‘Go on your honeymoon, don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine. And that was all a lie. So I made their image appear a little bit better,”

He also confessed to lying to Prince Harry about his staged photoshoot:
“All Harry asked me was did I pose for measurements for a suit, and I said, ‘No, I wasn’t posing for measurement for a suit, I was being measured for a new hoodie.’ That’s what I told them. Of course, that was a lie. I lied to him. I’m not proud of that, but I did.”
