New Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model Megan Fox is getting candid about her deep struggles with body Dysmorphia.

While speaking with the publication, the stunning and talented actress opened up about her life and her childhood, and how she still struggles with self-acceptance as well as body image issues. The 37-year-old explained, “I have body dysmorphia. I don’t ever see myself really the way other people see me. There is never a point in my life where I loved my body. Never, ever.”

She continued explaining, “When I was little, that was an obsession I had of, like, that I ‘should’ look this way.” She added, “Why I had an awareness of my body that young … I’m not sure and it definitely wasn’t environmental because I grew up in a very religious environment where bodies weren’t even acknowledged.”

Further into her interview with the outlet, she noted that she wishes people would instead notice her “rainbow aura” when they look at her rather than of her body. “It’s hard for me to say what the first thing is that people notice about me. I mean, I guess I could say I wished everyone noticed my aura, because I have a rainbow aura, and it’s special,” said the actor.

Despite her feelings, many can agree she looked absolutely amazing as she graced the cover of the SI Swimsuit issue. Fox is one of three cover models who will appear in the 2023 Sports piece — alongside Kim Petras, Martha Stewart, and Brooks Nader. The issue will hit newsstands on May 18.

More On Body Dysmorphia

Body Dysmorphia is a mental health condition that causes an individual to have a distorted view of their body image. It can cause them to be overly critical of their physical appearance and may even lead to extreme behaviors such as excessive dieting or exercising, avoidance of social situations, and compulsive checking in the mirror. This can lead to feelings of shame, guilt, low self-esteem, and depression. Fortunately, with the right treatment plan and support system in place, it is possible for individuals suffering from body dysmorphia to learn how to manage their symptoms and live a healthy life.

Fox has previously talked about her insecurities in a joint interview with boyfriend Machine Gun Kelly for British GQ Style’s autumn/winter 2021 issue. She said at the time, “We may look at somebody and think, ‘That person’s so beautiful. Their life must be so easy.’ We may look at somebody and think, ‘That person’s so beautiful. Their life must be so easy,'” She noted, “I have a lot of deep insecurities.”

However, with the support of her fiancé, Megan has tried to work through her struggles and in the process, even helped the rapper work through his personal challenges.

“She’s helped me realize that you can’t bury your trauma,” MGK previously shared in their joint interview. “No one knows anything about me. They don’t know how deep that rabbit hole goes with my childhood and with everything that my body has stored in itself.”
