The incident took place on January 9, 2019, when Kendell R. Cooks,38, found out that his daughter was fired from her position after she allegedly did not wear the correct work uniform and using inappropriate language at a McDonald’s in Chesterfield. Almost an hour and a half into receiving the news, Cooks picked up a 5ft long metal rake from a dumpster and blocked Jeffrey Jackson’s vehicle after entering the restaurant’s parking lot.
Crooks smashed Jackson’s window with the rake and attacked him with the tool several times. Jackson explained during the hearing that he sustained injuries and underwent multiple surgeries to repair his vision. Unfortunately, he lost one of his eyes and is currently using a prosthetic eye.

Crooks claimed he attacked Jackson because he allegedly pushed his daughter out of the restaurant after firing her. However, surveillance footage revealed that there was no physical altercation between the two. If convicted, Cooks faces up to 30 years in prison for felony first-degree assault, armed criminal action, and a misdemeanor count of property damage.
