The possibility of a Destiny’s Child reunion and a new album has been the talk on social media this week, following a recent interview given by Beyonce‘s dad, Mathew Knowles. During a chat with Entertainment Tonight, Bey’s father and former manager spoke about a potential reunion and new album, saying he would totally support the comeback as he’s still the band’s manager. While expressing his desire for the group to reunite, however, Knowles emphasized that it is entirely up to the members themselves to make that decision, noting that anything can happen in the entertainment industry.
As mentioned, Knowles revealed that he still manages the group and would support any decision for them to reunite somewhere down the line, though many fans feel that chances of getting another DC album are very unlikely at this point. He shared that Destiny’s Child’s strategy involved building up individual followings in the early ’00s before briefly reforming as a group for their last album, “Destiny Fulfilled” in 2004. Their last appearance was in 2018 when Rowland and Williams supported Beyonce at Coachella as they performed a medley of their greatest hits, and prior to that, they reunited for Bey’s Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2013.
The news of a potential reunion has generated a lot of discussions among fans who would happily spend their coins to buy a new album from the trio, but at the same time, they aren’t holding their breath either. The possibility of a new album from this iconic girl group has only added to the excitement. Meanwhile, Beyonce’s Renaissance Tour, which she kicked off earlier this month, is expected to gross a colossal $2 billion once it concludes its final show at the end of the summer, which begs the question of whether Bey even wants to do another DC album at this point.
Beyonce’s tour is projected to net over $2 billion, making it the highest-grossing tour in history. The trek is estimated to bring in revenue from both ticket sales and merchandise, with estimates ranging from $751 million to $2.4 billion based on average ticket prices from 52 shows, according to Forbes. Merchandise revenue could also reach around $136.8 million assuming she keeps 80% of revenue from 300,000 items being sold at an average price of $100.

Beyonce’s Renaissance tour is also said to be more lucrative than Taylor Swift’s “Eras” tour due to high average ticket prices of $700 and optimistic assumptions about the number of fans buying tickets.
The two artists pursue a differentiation strategy and charge premium prices for higher-quality products that may cost more to produce. Swift may retain a larger share of ticket sales, while Beyonce has a more extensive list of sponsors, and Swift has a more extensive merchandising strategy.
