Ten Killed After Mass Shooting At Walmart In Chesapeake, Virginia

According to reports, a Walmart employee started shooting inside the shop late on Tuesday night, killing ten people.

Around 10:20 p.m., a store manager opened fire and shot several employees off Battlefield Boulevard. The Daily Beast claims that one of the workers, Kevin Harper, went on Facebook Live following the shooting and claimed that he narrowly escaped the gunfire, which allegedly occurred in a break room. The Chesapeake Police Department said in a statement that they arrived at the scene to find several injuries and fatalities and that they thought the shooter acted alone. The manager shot himself shortly after the shooting.

In statement, Virginia state senator Louise Lucas committed to contributing to the nation’s efforts to prevent gun violence. “I am absolutely heartbroken that America’s latest mass shooting took place in a Walmart in my district in Chesapeake, Virginia, tonight. I will not rest until we find the solutions to end this gun violence epidemic in our country that has taken so many lives,” she wrote.

This is the second mass shooting that has occurred this week. On Sunday, a gunman opened fire at a gay club in Colorado Springs, killing five people and injuring multiple people.
