Marlon Wayans is praising J.Cole after he apologized for dropping a diss track to Kendrick Lamar.
As we previously reported, J.Cole recently expressed regret for his diss track towards fellow rapper on his latest album, “Might Delete Later.” During a performance at Dreamville Fest, Cole admitted to feeling remorse for releasing the song “7 Minute Drill,” where he seemingly responded to Lamar’s lyrics on “Like That.”
In front of the audience, Cole shared, “I ain’t gonna lie to y’all, the past two days felt terrible. I d**n near had a relapse.” He described the track as “the lamest f****ng sh*t I’ve ever done in my f****ng life,” acknowledging that it didn’t align with his values and basically disrupted his peace.
Cole went on to praise Lamar as “one of the greatest” in the music industry, emphasizing his respect for the Compton rapper. He also extended an open invitation for Lamar to address any offense caused, stating, “I got my chin out. Take your best shot, I’ll take that on the chin.” While some were critical of Cole’s actions, others applauded his accountability and maturity. Actor and comedian Marlon Wayans took to social media to commend Cole. He said,
“As a BLACK MAN IN, ABD AS A BLACK MAN INTHIS INDUSTRY THIS TO ME WAS EPIC!!
@realcoleworld i appreciate and respect this so much. Hip hop needs this, black people need this, all people need this. Accountability, apologies and consequences.”

This is a different take from other folks who weren’t here for Cole. DJ Akademiks was one of many who were disappointed Cole didn’t continue his allege rap beef with Lamar. The streamer reacted online and said,
“J Cole apologized to Kendrick Lamar.. WTF going on in rap.. n***a violated u.. u retaliated and u apologized. Kendrick might be right.. aint no big 3.. its just BIG HIM. WTF,” Akademiks wrote. “If Drake apologize to Kendrick Lamar.. i’m Done with Rap. Imma cover and only listen to Country Music. First Person Shooter dont even hit the same after that damn apology…”
Despite how anyone feels, J. Cole has since made the decision to to remove “7 Minute Drill” from streaming services, although the track remained available as of Monday afternoon.
So far, it is unclear if Kendrick accepted his apology as he has not yet reacted to the viral clip of Cole yet. Until then, let us know how you feel about this in the comment box below!
