A night out turned into a tragedy in Southfield, Michigan, this past Friday when a violent confrontation outside a TGI Fridays left one woman dead and two others injured.
Police were called to the scene on Evergreen Road just before 11:30 p.m. following reports of a shooting. According to investigators, the incident began as a heated argument in the parking lot between two individuals—both of whom were valid concealed pistol license (CPL) holders. Authorities say the confrontation escalated quickly when both parties pulled firearms and opened fire.
Tragically, a 58-year-old woman from Inkster was struck multiple times during the exchange and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Two other victims, who police say were simply bystanders caught in the crossfire, were also hit. A 54-year-old man from Detroit is currently in serious but stable condition after suffering a gunshot wound to the abdomen, while a 42-year-old woman visiting from Georgia is listed in stable condition with injuries to her shoulder and bicep.
A 35-year-old man from Southfield has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting.Â
The Southfield Police Department is currently working to piece together the events, noting that viral social media footage of the incident is now a key part of their investigation. Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has additional information to come forward and contact the Southfield Police Department immediately.
