A night out on the Sunset Strip took a terrifying turn on Sunday night when a shooting broke out at a popular rooftop hotspot.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the incident occurred around 8:55 p.m. in the 8400 block of W. Sunset Boulevard, right near La Cienega Boulevard.
While authorities are still piecing together what exactly led to the violence, deputies said that a man was shot in the leg.
LA County firefighters rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, though his condition was not immediately known.
As the investigation gets underway, deputies said that there was no suspect information available and a motive was unclear as their investigation began.
Witnesses told CBS LA that the shooting appeared to have happened at Harriet’s Rooftop West Hollywood, a popular rooftop bar and restaurant frequented by celebrities. The venue is located on the ninth floor of the 1 Hotel West Hollywood.
CBS LA has reached out to the representatives for Harriet’s but has not yet heard back.
Aerial footage from the scene captured a heavy law enforcement presence on Sunset Boulevard, which appeared to be closed off to traffic.
