Man Paralyzes Teen After She Refused To Have Sex With Him

A Gary, Indiana man was arrested after he shot a 13-year-old girl in the back when she refused his offer for sex last month.

ABC Chicago reports 18-year-old Shamar Walker is facing multiple charges for shooting a teen in the back on Jan.25. Court documents state the shooting occurred shortly after midnight. After responding to the call, Lake County police responded to a call and found the victim lying on her back.

The teen was transported to a local hospital and doctors say the bullet was lodged in her upper back. She was later transferred to the University of Chicago Hospital where doctors told her mother she is paralyzed from the chest down and may never walk again.

While talking to investigators, the victim said hours before the shooting, she went to his sister’s house after school. She refused Walker’s offer for sex despite having a previous sexual relationship with him. The pair started arguing and she walked away from him but Walker followed her. The victim called him a little boy and told him to leave her alone. Seconds later, Walker shot the victim and she fell the ground, hitting her head.

Walker was charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery, battery resulting in serious bodily injury and battery by means of a deadly weapon. He is currently held on a $150,000 bail at the Lake County Jail.
