A Tennessee man came to his wife’s rescue after he reportedly killed his neighbor’s kangaroo while it was attacking her.

The incident took place Wednesday in the White House neighborhood near Fern Valley Road and authorities said they responded to a call about two people who were fighting against a male kangaroo around 5 p.m. The kangaroo’s owners, Hope, and Chris Lea said they received a call from their neighbors who expressed concern after the animal was away from its usual living area but was still within the property. The couple told them they would usually lure the animal back with feed and told their neighbors where to find it since they were not home at the time.
However, the attack occurred when the neighbors entered the property where the kangaroo started to assault the female victim. Her husband approached the animal and strangled it to death.

The kangaroo was known as Carter and the couple said they found his lifeless body surrounded by the younger kangaroos. They are now seeking compensation due to the outcome of Carter’s attack.
“He didn’t have nowhere to go,” Hope said. “He was choked to death in his own space.”
“Now, the Leas say they are looking for some kind of restitution over Carter’s death. We’ve had Carter since he was a little nugget. It’s like losing a family member.”
