A Massachusetts man was accidentally killed by a neighbor when they tried to save him from being attacked by two pit bulls.

Adams Police responded to a call around 12 p.m. about a mauling in progress at an apartment on Wednesday. Afterward, they discovered the tenant with a crossbow injury and a child who was unharmed. His name was not released from the public.

Officials believed that a neighbor heard suspicious noises from the apartment, contacted police, and went into the apartment to help save the man from the pit bull attacks. They proceeded to use a crossbow to stop the attack by striking one of the dogs with an arrow. That arrow went through a door and killed the victim.
