Man Assaults Pregnant Woman After She Refused To Give Up Her Seat On SEPTA Bus

A Philadelphia man assaulted a two-month-old pregnant after she refused to give up her seat for him on a SEPTA bus in Center City.

The incident took place on the Market-Frankfort Line Night Owl bus around 1:45 a.m. SEPTA police said the homeless suspect approached the victim and asked her to give up her seat. When she refused, he allegedly struck the victim in the face and pushed her into a metal pole. He also threatened to follow the woman and beat her up.

“Police said the suspect approached the woman, who was seated, and demanded that she give her seat to him. When she refused, he punched her in the face and pushed her, then fled,” SEPTA said in a statement.

Authorities added that she was transported to a local hospital for treatment after sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.

After the attack, the bus driver immediately stopped the bus and contacted the police. The suspect exited from the bus but was later found by officers on Kensington Avenue and H Street.  According to FOX 29, officers obtained an arrest warrant after submitting the case to the Philadephia District Attorney’s Office.

Police are still on the search for the man as of Tuesday and he has yet to be identified.
