A Virginia man was arrested after he tried to breach a Washington D.C. checkpoint with guns and ammo several days before Joe Biden’s inauguration.

The Metro Police Department identified the man as Wesley Allen Beeler after officers arrested him Friday night. After he was stopped and questioned by police, Beeler tried to present fake credentials for the upcoming inauguration and told the officers that he was carrying a Glock semi-automatic weapon. However, after searching his vehicle, the officers found an arsenal of weapons and ammo.
Beeler possessed 509 rounds of ammunition which included 21 12-gauge shotgun shells, and a loaded 17-round magazine for the 9mm Glock. He was immediately arrested and taken into police custody.

He faces numerous charges which include possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of unlicensed ammunition, possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device, and violating stay-at-home orders.
Currently, over 20,000 National Guardsmen troops are securing Washington D.C. to prepare for Joe Biden’s inauguration. Security measures have been heightened due to the increased tension from the insurrection at the Capitol building.
