Loyola University Student Reveals School Fired Professor After His Wife Died From COVID-19

The Loyola University of Chicago was put on blast by a student after they revealed on Twitter that a professor was fired after his wife died from COVID-19.

Twitter user @morganarowland revealed that her professor was fired from the school after his wife died from the coronavirus and the school stopped paying their teaching assistants. The tweet reads, “my professor’s wife passed away from corona, then my school stopped paying the TAs so he lost all his help & was behind 5,000 assignments now my school is firing him and he’s here on a work visa. this is why I’m leaving this yt ass school.” 


After several Twitter users caught wind of the tweet, they wanted to create a GoFundMe page to help support the professor during this difficult time. Morgana said she emailed the professor in hopes that he will respond to the outpouring of support.

Another student revealed that the school is in severe debt and many of the professors do not have health coverage.
