As we previously reported, Donald Trump and 18 allies were indicted Monday by an Atlanta-area grand jury on state criminal charges stemming from their efforts to overturn the former president’s 2020 electoral defeat in Georgia.
The 41-count indictment includes 13 charges against the ex-President and accuses him of being the head of a “criminal enterprise” to reverse the election.
Reacting to the breaking news, Hillary Clinton appeared on Monday’s (Aug. 14) episode of The Rachel Maddow Show at the same time the news was announced. While speaking on the topic, the Former First Lady couldn’t hold back her laughter. Speaking through giggles, Hilary said, “I can’t believe this.” During their conversation, Maddow asked if she feels any bit of satisfaction since “most of the country” didn’t believe her warnings that Mr. Trump “was going to try to end democracy.” Clinton said with a smirk on her face, “It’s hard to believe. I don’t feel any satisfaction,” Clinton explained. “I feel great — just great profound sadness that we have a former president who has been indicted for so many charges that went right to the heart of whether or not our democracy would survive.”

The Georgia election probe refers to the investigation into possible irregularities and alleged attempts to influence the outcome of the 2020 presidential election in the state of Georgia. The probe has been conducted by various authorities, including election officials, independent investigators, and legal bodies.
During the election process, Donald Trump made several claims questioning the integrity of the election in Georgia. These claims included allegations of widespread voter fraud, illegal voting, and irregularities in the handling of mail-in ballots. It is important to note that multiple courts, including the Supreme Court, dismissed these claims due to a lack of evidence.
What Has Donald Trump Said Over His Latest Indictment?
Donald Trump has reacted to his latest indictment, calling it a “witch hunt” once again and attacking the Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis as “racist and corrupt”.

Willis said in a statement that “the state’s role in this process is essential to the functioning of our democracy.” She added, “Georgia, like every state, has laws that allow those who believe that results of the election are wrong, whether because of intentional wrongdoing or unintentional error to challenge those results in state courts,” Willis said.
In response to the new indictment, Trump’s attorneys Drew Findling, Jennifer Little, and Marissa Goldberg said, “The events that have unfolded today have been shocking and absurd.” They added, “This one-sided grand jury presentation relied on witnesses who harbor their own personal and political interests— some of whom ran campaigns touting their efforts against the accused and/or profited from book deals and employment opportunities as a result,” the attorneys said in the statement. “We look forward to a detailed review of this indictment which is undoubtedly just as flawed and unconstitutional as this entire process has been.”
