Lizzo has lifted the lid on her friendship with Adele, saying that the Rolling In The Deep hitmaker is a “ghetto b**** like me” as she gushed on why she believes they’ve managed to keep a close bond over the years. The 33-year-old, who is currently on a promotional campaign supporting her new song About Damn Time, recently stopped by Andy Cohen’s Sirius XM show, Radio Andy, where she opened up about the global superstar and their first encounter together.
According to the Good As Hell singer, she and Adele met at a Grammys party hosted by producer Mark Ronson a few years back, and they’ve been close ever since. Lizzo was also present for the taping of Adele’s One Night Only special, which was primarily shot at the Griffith Observatory in October and aired on CBS the following month. Speaking of her friendship with the mother-of-one Lizzo explained, “We’re both Tauruses, and when we’re together, the decibels of how loud we get with our laughter is incredible.”

“She’s so supportive and she really believes in me. She’s f***ed with me for years. I met her at a Grammy party,” she continued. “I think it was Mark Ronson’s Grammy party years ago and she was like, ‘Oh my God!’ and I was like, ‘This is f***ing Adele!’ I like her. She a ghetto b***h like me.” Lizzo further said she was pleasantly surprised when she geared up to perform on Saturday Night Live last weekend when the Easy On Me vocalist sent her a text message sending her well wishes ahead of her TV gig.
While the Detroit native hadn’t heard from Adele in a while due to their hectic schedule, getting some support from Adele appeared to have given Lizzo all the confidence she needed to deliver a stellar show on SNL. She told Andy, “We really are super similar and we don’t f***ck with too many people, but we f*** with each other.”

“I hadn’t heard from her in a minute, ’cause you know, life. But I was looking at her photo ’cause it’s right outside the dressing room, and she texted me and was like, ‘I hope you kill it this weekend, babes.’ And I was like, ‘Oh my God! I’m looking at you while you…'”
Lizzo Confirms She’s In A Relationship
In the same interview, Lizzo further revealed that she’s in a committed relationship. However, she has chosen to keep her love life under wraps, presumably because her mystery man is not a celebrity and tends to lead a completely different life from the chart-topper.
Though it can be hard to make a relationship work when two people work in opposite fields, Lizzo explained that her man has always been highly supportive of her career. She revealed he was also in attendance for her SNL performance while cheering her on backstage. “If you have the right person, no, not at all. It’s not even a factor,” she added. “It should be mutually supportive no matter what that person does.”
Lizzo’s new album, Special, is out July 15.
