Lisa Wu Speaks On Crystal Kung Minkoff Being Labeled As The ”First” Asian-American Housewife: “The Disrespect”
Earlier this week it was announced by several outlets that Crystal Kung Minkoff will be joining the popular Bravo reality show. It was said she will be added to “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” cast for Season 11, according to Variety.

While some reports noted that she will be the first-Asian American cast member to join “RHOBH,” others claimed she will become the first EVER-Asian American of the “Real Housewives” franchise, and let’s just say it didn’t sit well with one former reality star.
Lisa Wu, of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” took to Instagram Friday morning to share her thoughts on some of the headlines. She shared a picture of herself with a few stars from Season 1 along with the caption that read: “I’m sure I’m the 1st❤️😜 make your corrections with the apologies 😜 the disrespect 🙄.” Under her post one fan wrote: “ Yes you are the FIRST Asian Housewife…. ANDY COHEN IS SO ROTTEN.” Lisa then replied, “Not sure who said it but clarifying those that are confused 😂😂.” Lisa, who is half Asian, exited the show after two seasons in 2009.
Despite this, Bravo has been praised for increasing efforts to diversify its casts across its programming. Minkoff will be joining Kyle Richards, Erika Girardi, Lisa Rinna, Garcelle Beauvais and Dorit Kemsley, following the departures of Denise Richards and Teddi Mellencamp after the show’s 10th season, which finished airing in late September.
Minkoff is an entrepreneur who founded Real Coco. She’s married to Rob Minkoff, a filmmaker, who directed the original “Lion King” in 1994, the “Stuart Little” films and Eddie Murphy’s “Haunted Mansion.”
