Patrick Clancy is opening up about his life in the wake of the devastating tragedy that took his three children. In his first public interview since taking the stand seven weeks ago, Clancy shared with 60 Minutes that he finds his strength in a deeply personal way: by speaking to the children he lost.

When asked by correspondent Ross Douthat what he says to them, Clancy’s response was simple and heartbreaking: “‘Help me.’ All the time.”

The interview comes following the high-profile murder trial of his ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy, who was charged with the 2023 killings of their three children. During the trial, Clancy provided harrowing testimony regarding Lindsay’s rapidly declining mental health, describing her struggles with severe paranoia, depression, insomnia, and intrusive thoughts leading up to the tragedy.

The trial became a battleground for opposing narratives: the prosecution argued that Lindsay acted intentionally and was sane at the time of the killings, while the defense maintained she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and should not be held criminally responsible.

In the aftermath of his testimony, Clancy faced a wave of baseless online conspiracies and speculation suggesting he played a role in the children’s deaths. Speaking to 60 Minutes, he addressed those rumors directly, calling them “deeply harmful” not only to the legacy of his children but also as a distraction from the critical conversation surrounding perinatal health.

The trial ultimately ended in a mistrial after seven days of deliberation, with a single holdout juror refusing to find Lindsay Clancy not criminally responsible.
