Lil Wayne Strikes A Deal And Pleads Guilty To Federal Gun Charge

Lil Wayne has struck a plea deal with the feds a month after he was federally charged for illegal weapon possession.

Lil Wayne made an appearance in a Miami federal court Friday where he pleaded guilty to illegally possessing a loaded weapon while traveling. The guilty plea is a part of a deal he took with the feds and in exchange, he will be convicted of a lighter sentence depending on the judge.

The charge comes after an anonymous source told federal agents that the rapper possessed a gold-plated Remington 1911 and, a .45-caliber handgun that was loaded with six rounds of ammunition at the Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport in Dec. 2019. They also said Lil Wayne also possessed personal bags of cocaine, ecstasy, and oxycodone. but his lawyer, Howard Srebnick said the rapper’s jet was cleared to leave after the search.

“There is no allegation that he ever fired it, brandished it, used it or threatened to use it. There is no allegation that he is a dangerous person.”

His sentencing for the 2019 federal gun charge is scheduled for next month and if convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison. As per TMZ, the rapper was also convicted of a federal gun charged in 2009 and served time in New York.
