The infamous 2015 shooting, which saw a gunman target Lil Wayne’s tour bus, appears to be in connection to Gunna and Young Thug’s indictment charges, it has been reported. In April 2015, multiple shots were fired at Wayne’s tour bus, with the rapper and his entourage inside the vehicle, following a nightclub performance in Atlanta, Georgia. A man named Jimmy Winfrey was later arrested for the crime, with his warrant stating he had committed the attack to prove his ties to his YSL gang by shooting at a rap rival.
He later pled guilty to his charges and was sentenced to 20 years, but his legal team contested that a judge had influenced his decision, resulting in the ruling being overturned. During an in-depth investigation into the incident, it was then uncovered that Young Thug and Birdman’s names had reportedly been listed as co-conspirators but were never charged in the case. Fast forward to this week, when Gunna and Young Thug were indicted for gang-related RICO crimes, it’s now said that the aforementioned gang has ties to murders, armed robbery, obstruction, witness tampering, and scheming to kill rapper YFN Lucci behind bars.
According to the New York Times, Wayne’s bus shooting is connected to the indictment due to Jimmy and Young Thug’s association with the YSL gang. Sources say it’s still unclear what extent this will play in the ongoing case, especially since more details connected to the situation are being revealed by the day. Yet, it certainly intensifies the severity of the charges Thugger faces, alongside Gunna and 26 other members.

The indictment quoted lyrics from Young Thug’s music videos, including one from 2018, where he raps, I never killed anybody but I got something to do with that body. I told them to shoot hundred rounds.”
Meanwhile, District Attorney Fani Willis said during a press conference on Tuesday, It does not matter what your notoriety is, what your fame is, if you come to Fulton County, Georgia, and you commit crimes, … we are going to prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law.”

Speaking of the charges both Gunna and Young Thug are facing, she continued, “We’ll ask on the different charges for the maximum penalties, and there’s obviously many people that are looking at life under this indictment. You’re absolutely right. These are serious crimes, they’re serious allegations, and it is my opinion that violence in our community deserves maximum penalties.”
The DA was further quizzed on what would happen to the safety of the people involved in the charges, such as rapper YFN Lucci, who currently still in prison. To that, she said that she wouldn’t want to “step outside of my lane” since she is not the sheriff, but she places a lot of faith and confidence in the actions they’ll take to make sure those individuals aren’t harmed.
